Graduation Day

As I was driving into town the other day, I was reminded
that it is graduation time.

First it was the balloons on the trees then it was the extra
cars parked outside the neighbors house and of course
the sounds of celebration and laughter as a milestone is achieved.

I really love graduation time.

For myself it always brings back memories and the feeling of hope
and optimism that I had when I first stepped out of the world
of high school into the "quote" real world, as I have heard it
called.

When I graduated from my high school I lived in a small town.

The local paper came and took pictures of us before we walked
down the aisle to the pomp and circumstance.

We listened to the obligatory address by the valedictorian
and the salutatorian and looked around at everyone's smiling
faces, relieved and excited to be moving onto the next step
of their life.

A group of friends and I got together and held a giant graduation
party and much to my surprise people who I barely even knew
showed up, wishing me well and handing me checks!

This may have been the best part of graduation :)

I now look back on that time with a big smile for it was the
first time that I had experienced the feeling of receiving so
much from so many people at once.
